Gene Wang Initiates First Discussion Session on September 28
Gene Wang, CEO and founder of People Power Company, an open source green technology startup, kicked off the first Hot, Flat and Crowded discussion session at the library on Tuesday, September 28.
Wang, a great admirer of the book and its premises, showed excerpts from author Tom Friedman’s presentation at an Aspen, Colorado conference in which Friedman highlights many points in his book.
Gene Wang’s company is developing an Energy Services Platform to enable companies to make next generation appliances, devices and services that save energy and money automatically for every home and building. He passionately believes along with Friedman that green equals red, white and blue and that a green revolution will mean a revitalization of American business and jobs.
He underscored today’s polluting fuels from hell: oil, gas and coal and believes that we need to develop as quickly as possible fuels from heaven: wind, solar and hydroelectric.
And he passed along several tips on how to conserve energy and create a greener world.
Gene is AAUW Fremont Branch member Jo Szeto’s son. All those who attended this informative and interesting session know that Jo has much to be proud of. You could see her ear-to-ear grin when he accepted heartfelt applause.
