One Book, One Community Read Project Honored
In recognition of the longstanding impact of our One Book, One Community Read Project since 2008, Mayor Lily Mei presented AAUW Fremont with a Ceremonial Resolution on February 3.
The One Book, One Community Read Project was launched in 2008 in collaboration with the Alameda County Library, the Fremont Unified School District, and the City of Fremont. The books we have featured thus far are:
- 2024 Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver
- 2023 The Hill We Climb by Amanda Gorman
- 2022 All We Can Save: Truth, Courage and Solutions for the Climate Crisis coedited by Ayana Johnson (2010 AAUW American Fellow) and Katharine Wilkinson
- 2019 Becoming by Michelle Obama
- 2018 Unsheltered by Barbara Kingsolver
- 2017 Behold the Dreamers by Imbolo Mbue
- 2016 Sisters in Law: How Sandra Day O’Connor and Ruth Bader Ginsberg Went to the Supreme Court and Changed the World by Linda Horseman
- 2015 Adelante! A different book every month, focusing on Latin American authors.
- 2014 I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou
- 2013 Half the Sky by Nicholas D. Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn
- 2012 Lots of Laughter A varied program focusing on humor in a number of media to get us giggling
- 2011 Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck
