A Tribute to Maya Angelou

Fremont AAUW Selects Maya Angelou for our seventh OBOC program for 2014/15.

IKnowWhytheCagedBirdSingsThe selection this year is “A Tribute to Maya Angelou.” We will first read Angelou’s first autobiography, “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings.” A book discussion will be held at the Fremont Main Library, Fukaya Room on Tuesday, October 28th at 7 p.m.

In December, students from Irvington High School will feature a discussion and treat us with a creative performance centered around Angelou’s book. This presentation is currently scheduled for Tuesday, December 2nd at 7 p.m. in the Fukaya Room at the Fremont Main Library.

Later in the year, we will read and discuss Maya Angelou’s poems in her books Phenomenal Woman and And Still I Rise.
